The Spirit of God is pure like water, the vinegarette ( the bitter substance that just cannot mix with water due to its opposite chemical properties) can be likened to anything at all against the perfect pureness of God’s Spirit( thoughts, people, movies, music, an environment, a way of speaking to others, impatience, guilt, hatred, bitterness, unforgiveness, anxiety, fear, unbelief, etc.)
Our fleshly sin-scarred minds and hearts may always want to gravitate towards conforming to the world, or thinking like the man-made culture of today, or losing faith, or thinking bitterly, or walking in justified anger, self-hatred/ negativity etc. But all this is like vinegarette that pushes itself to the surface of our minds and pushes the pure Spirit of God down and away. Impure and pure do not mix, and never can. To be filled with the Spirit we have to overcome the vinegarette with God’s help, through ferocious prayer.
A very helpful Bible devotion by Joyce Meyers, to go deeper into this:
But therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Ephesians 5
Faith and wisdom from God ( everything found in HIS Word the Bible,) are perfectly unified, God’s Spirit inspires bible based wisdom in us to have guidance and direction in EVERY situation. And Faith in God and His promises, give us something to hold on to when nothing else stands or holds, and at all times.
Psalm 32 :1
New King James Version
A Psalm of David. A Contemplation. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered.
Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
